As well as his freelance work, Jonny is part time Senior Adviser for Casework Innovation for the Wales Youth Justice Board (YJB).
Prior to his current role, Jonny was a YOT practitioner for 5 years followed by 10 years as an adolescent sexual offending specialist. In August 2013, he left his post as Interventions Lead for Hillside Secure Children’s Home, and joined the YJB.
Jonny is the current chair of the National Organisation for the Treatment of Abusers (NOTA) in Wales and sat for a number of years on the Barnardo’s Cymru adoption and fostering panel. He has recently written a book chapter for the Attachment Network Wales on using attachment-based approaches with complex teenagers who display challenging and risky behaviours.
Jonny’s research interests are youth justice, attachment, adoption, abuse, safeguarding, therapeutic approaches and particularly how skewed developmental trajectories impact on children’s behaviour.
